Whitney Music Box
Turn the wheel and get the colored dots moving. Listen carefully.
Every dot represents a note. The note is played when the dot crosses the line. The different rotation speeds create a spiral pattern: the innermost dot will complete one full circle, while the next dot manages to complete two circles, the third dot goes around thrice and so forth. Synchronised music and images create mesmerizing and almost hypnotic results. The Whitney Music Box was created by Jim Bumgardner who used the visual ideas of animation pioneer John Whitney as a basis to shape the so-called “incremental drift” into a musical format.
