This music video is a pure fractal animation made for Flinch, who is an electronic musician from North America. It is made in one of the well-known and still-under-evolution fractal programs Mandelbulb3D, except for minor post-render adjustments in Adobe Premiere. The animation is altogether a combination of 4 basic fractal formulas and what is seen during the 5:45 of the play is the result of variations in the constructing numeric variables defining these formulas or those controlling environmental phenomena like colors, lights, etc.

The original visualizations were created after a loose interpretation of the Chumtov octic equation in the Surfer program. The challenge for a visual artist was to translate the complex 3D surface into a a meaningful 2D statement. The resulting objects were re-processed in various graphic application to recreate a new context inspired by the source geometry. The citrus component - a copy of the Surfer program logo - was added as a reference to the original program and a tribute to the quality and originality of the software.

This gallery contains mathematical figures created with Surfer and reassembled in various graphic applications. Mathematical visualization is an extraordinary source of inspiration as well as the basis of intriguing visual poetry when one knows where to look.
The definition of a quaste can be found in the Surfer program, fantasy surfaces. The formulas copied under the images allow reproducing the original image I used in each composition – minus the x- y- z rotation - which is left to the viewer creativity.
