Auf dem Oberwolfacher IMAGINARY-Workshop im Juli 2012 wurde entschieden, einen Schwerpunkt auf Web-Entwicklung zu legen. Das Programm SURFER soll als online-Version erscheinen, d. h. geplant ist ein Java-Raytracer algebraischer Flächen in Form eines Browser-Applets. Dieses Applet kann leicht durch Javascript-Befehle in der html-Umgebung des Browsers gesteuert werden. Die Nutzeroberfläche kann man leicht updaten; sie ist auch offen für Beiträge unserer Entwickler-Community.
