As part of the launching of the new annual theme about raw materials at Futurium, IMAGINARY presents a new exhibit about the circular economy of smartphones: RRRRR.

RRRRR is an interactive exhibit designed as a multiplayer cooperative simulation game. Its main aim is to learn about the five key strategies of the Circular Economy: Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Refurbish, and Recycle. The ultimate goal is to collectively establish a functional circular economy model centered around smartphones.

The exhibit revolves around a dynamic simulation depicting the lifecycle of smartphone production and usage. Visitors can actively engage with the simulation through a game mechanic based on worker placement. This mechanic allows them to modify various parameters of the model by triggering specific actions and events.

By participating in this interactive experience, visitors can directly shape the simulation’s development and influence its stakeholders. These engagements provide valuable insights into how the principles of reducing, repairing, reusing, refurbishing, and recycling impact the economy in real-world scenarios.

The exhibit opens on May 3rd with public access beginning on May 4th, 2024.
