IMAGINARY Conference 2016
16 Nov. 2015
Shaping the future of mathematics communication

What is the future of mathematics communication? How does successful knowledge transfer in mathematics look like? What are its modern tools, concepts, and strategies? How can the public be engaged in a meaningful way?

IMAGINARY Conference on Open and Collaborative Communication of Mathematical Research 2016 (IC16) is an interdisciplinary gathering for mathematicians, communicators and interested professionals to discuss and work together on current issues of communication and knowledge transfer in mathematics. In contrast to a classical conference, IC16 is emphasizing a participative and collaborative approach in order to advance new ideas, bring forward concrete results and help shape the future of mathematics communication. IC16 is funded by Volkswagen Foundation.

IC16 will be held in Berlin, Germany (partly parallel to the 7ECM conference in Berlin and just before the ICME13 conference in Hamburg). The brand new conference website including a call for proposals is online now! Please also visit, like and share our Facebook event page for IC16.

Registration for IC16 will open after the announcement of the final program on March 1, 2016. In order to receive the latest information regarding IC16, please sign up to our newsletter by ticking the box ”IC16 Conference Newsletter”.

MaRDI is a Germany-wide initiative to address challenges in mathematical research. It is aimed mainly at mathematicians to change how we do mathematics using FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) research data. This way, it fits very well with our own open-source philosophy.

IMAGINARY actively participates in this initiative by assisting in communicating and...Leer más

March 14 is already known as Pi Day and is celebrated in many countries worldwide. It is named after the important number π, the ratio between the circumference and diameter of a circle, and approximately equal to 3.14. The International Day of Mathematics (IDM) celebration expands Pi Day to include the whole spectrum of mathematics. Mathematical language and reasoning are accessible to everyone. This year, the...Leer más
