We are calling students of the Art and Design fields as well as independent Artists and Designers to participate in the Math Creations contest for Art, Design and Mathematics. The goal of the contest is new creative ideas based on mathematical concepts and their realization. It is organized by the special research fields “Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics” and “Raum - Zeit - Materie. At the Oberwolfach IMAGINARY workshop in July 2012 it was decided to put a focus on web development. For the program SURFER it is planned to offer a web version, i. e. a Java ray tracer of algebraic surfaces in form of a browser applet. This applet can the be easily controlled in the browser html environment through javascript commands. The user interface can then be easily updated and is open for contributions from our developer community.

IMAGINARY has launched a new educational and artistic format called “MathLapse” to highlight the link between mathematics and real-world phenomena.
