"MATH & ME": Artist in residence with The Paseo Project

From October 9 to 24, Andreas Matt, Managing Director of IMAGINARY, together with Sarah Funk, will take part in a residency with The Paseo Project in Taos, New Mexico. Their residency explores the intersection of mathematics, art, and creative self-expression through the interactive mathematical software SURFER.
SURFER allows participants to create “pictures in the abstract world of mathematics”, transforming equations and formulas, particularly those describing algebraic surfaces, into mathematical images. As part of the residency, a participatory workshop will invite participants to invent their own equations and formulas and use them to create mathematical images and other artistic formats.
The works and images created during the residency will culminate in a public exhibition on October 23, showcasing the participants’ creative work.
The artist residency is part of The Paseo Project, an initiative that brings artists and communities together through participatory and site-specific projects.
