At gamescom 2025 in Cologne, the project Quantum Arcade presented the first versions of two video games on quantum computing.
In collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS), IMAGINARY developed “Qaboom” and “Quantum Quest” to communicate mathematical concepts of quantum computing in a playful way. The two games, a skill-based challenge and a puzzle game, were built as classic arcade machines.
During the five-day event, around 2,000 visitors had the chance to try them out. Both games were well received and kept players engaged throughout the entire convention.
The project Quantum Arcade is supported by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
