The successful exhibition Formas & Fórmulas, originated as a “spin-off” of the IMAGINARY exhibition, finds a new home at the hall of the Science Faculty of the University of Lisbon, after four years on display at the Science Museum of Lisbon.

Formas & Fórmulas gives a tour around geometric shapes, their properties, aesthetics and applications. The main topics of the exhibition are lines and revolution surfaces (especially ruled surfaces), algebraic surfaces (with many 3D-printed surfaces and the SURFER program), and examples of geometric surfaces in architecture and engineering. IMAGINARY participated in the original design of Formas and Fórmlas, and many exhibits of this exhibition are common to IMAGINARY. See the catalog of the original exhibition.

The exhibition decorates the hall and corridors of the Sciences faculty and the Biblioteca de Investigação Matemática da Universidade de Lisboa (BIMUL). For a limited time, the films AnimaSurfer and Superfícies Curvas are projected at the faculty hall, and the programs SURFER and the recently launched Mappae Mundi are on display on a digital whiteboard. The sculptures, panels, and picture galleries will stay permanently at the faculty.
