Esto no es un lemón. La superficie algebraica "Zitrus" de Herwig Hauser.
La imagen «Citrus», una superficie algebraica de Herwig Hauser, ganó un premio entre las 10 mejores visualizaciones en la competencia «Visiones e Imagenes Fascinantes: Humanidades y Ciencias visualizadas», organizado por Die Junge Akademie de la Academia de Ciencias y Humanidades de Berlin-Brandenburgo, y la Academia Nacional de Ciencias Leopoldina, el Consejo de Científicos Jóvenes de la Academia Rusa de Ciencias (RAS), la Academia de Jóvenes de Suecia, la Academia de Jóvenes de Escocia RSE, y De Jonge Akademie de Holanda.
La descripción de la competencia era: «¿Qué es lo que hace fascinante a la investigación?. Existen múltiples posibles respuestas a esta pregunta: la atracción por lo desconocido, de lo ajeno, lo oscuro o lo misterioso; la búsqueda del entendimiento en áreas de investigación aún inexploradas; la belleza de los juegos intelectuales y los experimentos científicos; el riesgo asociado a ciertos tipos de investigación; los aspectos visionarios de algunos proyectos; los desafíos que presentan; la excitación cuando finalmente se obtiene un resultado; o, como el poeta Irlandés W. B. Yeats lo describió, simplemente la fascinación por aquello que es difícil. ¿Qué fascina a los investigadores; de dónde proviene esa fascinación; y, más importante, cómo puede capturarse esa fascinación, visualizarla y comunicarla con una imagen fotográfica?»
Las imágenes ganadoras viajaran como parte de una exhibición itinerante a Berlin, Amsterdam, Edimburgo, Moscú y Estocolmo.
